Fabulous failure

Overview

Revisiting our failures is less fun than returning to our triumphs, but both share the same positive ambitions: – to grow and to gain deeper insight into ourselves.

We’ve all heard the adage that failure is a teacher, that we can defy our defeats through learning. But this is only true if a subsequent change in our behaviour proves the lesson was indeed learned.

The Go forensic on fabulous failure process helps us to go back, turn over the rubble, and rescue the blessings buried within our biggest bloopers.

Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat.
— Denis Waitley

As you will already know, most potential employers (and investors) want to know how we handle, learn and rebound from ‘failure’. They want to see convincing evidence of resilience. That may take many forms, but the convincing part has to start with us being straight with ourselves.

Our four-step Go forensic on fabulous failure process will help you select your own instructive moments. These failures may still be near top of mind if they were particularly spectacular ones. This process will help you break those events down, so that the learning is clear and the value is extracted. Go forensic on fabulous failure prompts you to get to the ‘so what’ of the event, and, in its final step, allows you to gracefully retire your failures as the personal war stories that all who dare greatly have in their cupboard. Just don’t lock the door, if you’re going to push hard towards your more, you can expect to have some new teaching moments in time!

This process is not designed to be an excruciating or overly laborious experience. Instead, it is illuminating. You’ll be smiling at the end. You’ve had the pain, now extract the gain.
