Introduction

A regular compass tells us which direction we’re heading.  Your more compass can do much more than that. It will because you’ll design and set it yourself before you follow it. The more compass process will pose challenging questions.

When set, your compass will point to what matters most to you. The direction and route you choose to take will be deeply informed and inspired by your deepest personal values. For this reason, you won’t be easily blown off track.

Guided by what matters most

At more of me we have high hopes for your more compass.  We want it to be as important to you as your mobile phone. When next you face a ‘big call’ in your life, we expect you’ll be able to pull out your more compass and it will point you to the right choice for you.

As part of the more core package, your more compass requires rock solid foundations.  We’ll ask you to go deep. You will reflect on and examine your values and beliefs, as well as the impact these have on your character. You will consider how your values help to centre you. Just as challenging, too, the process suggests it’s important to be prepared to revisit your values if they should begin to stagnate and function only as an unhelpful prejudice in your life.

The process will ask you who you want to be, before it asks you what you want to do. It will ask you what you stand for, before it asks you what your mid-term goals are. It will ask you what gets you feeling most excited and high in your life, before its asks you where you want to be living in 10 years. It will also ask you to go broad as well as deep. For instance, to know what space you intend to protect in your life for your important relationships and to understand why your work matters to you beyond merely paying the bills.

Once you’ve mapped what matters most, the focus found process helps you target your attention on what is most meaningful and rewarding to you.

My inspirations

We find our inspirations outside ourselves. They balance our lives and keep us connected and engaged with the world. They’re central to bringing out the best in us, while also helping us to ‘get over ourselves’.

My passions

What exhilarates you? What gets your heart pounding? To live your more it’s vital to include and connect with your passions. Are you using your passions to bring energy to your life?

My focus found

Your time is the most precious resource you have. Use it for your more. Channel your attention to what matters most. Set meaningful goals that engage, focus and balance you.

Each process has easy to use resources to help you build the compass you can use to guide your life according to what matters most to you.

Process steps:

You decide which and how many sub-processes and exercises you want to take on, but we recommend you do at least one or two exercises from each of the three processes and in the order listed here:

  • My inspirations:
  1. Complete ‘Charting my values’ exercise
  2. Complete ‘Influence of character’ exercise
  3. Complete ‘I stand for this’ exercise
  4. Complete ‘My manifesto’ exercise
  • My passions: – complete ‘power of my passions’ exercise
  • My focus found – complete ‘my focus found’ exercise
  • Coaching around set my compass elements and the consolidated big picture

Time commitment required:

  • See time estimates for each of the three processes. Overall, will require circa 10 hours of work from you. This can be spread over two or three weeks if needs be.

Complete your compass via a workshop

Should you prefer, this entire compass module can also be completed in a small, public group workshop, which involves attending two half-day sessions, plus about an hour or so of at-home pre-work for each session.

Outputs and outcomes:

As above, outputs and outcomes will depend on which sub-processes you elect to take on:

  • You will have written your personal ‘manifesto’.
  • You’ll know what gets you highest in life.
  • You’ll know where your energy comes from.
  • You will have considered where it’s best to employ that energy.
  • You will have developed a balanced and prioritised set of goals.
  • Your personal compass document will consolidate all that matters most to you. Keep it close and it will continue to help you feel ‘whole’ and make decision making easier.
  • You’ll emerge deeply informed, centred and focused.
  • If you apply discipline to the plans you make in ‘my focus found’ you’ll see enhanced results and improved wellbeing, too.
  • Your sense of purpose and mission will be clearer.
  • You will be better equipped to communicate and share with others what matters most to you.
  • You will have an improved sense of perspective. If you know what’s big, then the small stuff is what’s left over. You can choose to give the small stuff some of your attention if you want to, but you’ll do so mindfully and will know your way back to the big stuff.
